Breaking More Barriers
In order to succeed, we can learn to break all sorts of barriers, even community barriers. LEARN TO HAVE A POSITIVE PROFILE and create new experiences with those that matter. Ties Required Plus has developed a partnership with the Greater Houston Police Activities League (GHPAL) in order to foster improved relations between our young people and police officers.
The Greater Houston Police Activities League (GHPL) works with Houston area youth ages 8-18 by participating in athletic, educational and mentoring activities. Their goal is to reduce juvenile crime and violence through “Relational Policing” which includes building trusting relationships among youth, law enforcement and the community.
A workshop with GHPAL Officer Charles Webb (South Central Division), can be added to Dress For Success 101. Our PAL partner will cover such topics as:
⦁ The history of PAL and how it builds relationships with the community’s youth
⦁ How to best engage with police for a positive and safe experience
⦁ Knowing your rights/What’s expected of you and the police
⦁ How to get involved in a PAL program in your community
